Inti Raymi or Festival Of the Sun - Inti Raymi Festival Itinerary:

Day 01 (june 20th) .- Arrival to Lima

Reception and transfer to the hotel of your choice.

Day 02 (june 21th).- Lima • Cusco (City Tour )

Cusco Navel of the World Altitude: 3,400 meters above sea level. After your breakfast we will drive you in a private transfer to the Jorge Chaves international airport in Lima where your flight will take you to the majestic city of Cusco, (duration approx. of flight is 55 minutes).

Our staff will greet you at the Cusco airport and escort you to your designated hotel and assist you in checking in. There you will have time to rest and acclimate to Cusco's elevation.

After a nice afternoon rest you will be able to take a City Tour, visiting the main square, the temple of the sun (Koricancha), including the Cathedral. Then we will visit the archaeological site of Sacsayhuaman, Quenqo and ending in Puca Pucara. End to our tour in Cusco.

Day 03 (june 22th).- Sacred Valley

After your breakfast we will initiate your tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. On the way you will pass through Pisaq, a beautiful place to observe archaeological remains and visit the famous Indian market (the best days to visit it are on: Tuesdays, Thursdays or Sundays).

Afterwards you will continue and stop in Urubamba to enjoy a wonderfully prepared lunch. After lunch you will visit the archaeological city of Ollantaytambo where you will be able to appreciate the amazing complexity of Inca construction. If time permits you may visit the traditional town of Chincheros. At the end of the day and after arriving back in Cusco we will see you safely back to your hotel. End to our tour in Sacred Valley.

Day 04 (june 23th) .- Cusco . Machu Picchu . Cusco

Very early in the morning after breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel and taken to the train station where you will travel approximately 3 hours from Cusco to Machu Picchu - one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Arriving at the base of Machupichu in "Aguas Calientes" your waiting guide will greet and take you to the amazing Machu Picchu via a short bus ride.

After visiting Machu Picchu you will return to the majestic city of Cusco by train where our friendly staff will be waiting for you to deliver you back to your hotel. End to our tour in Machu Picchu.

Day 05 (june 24th).- Inti Raymi Festival or festival of the Sun

Now that you've visited the great Incan architectural achievements it will be apparent to you that the Sun was the main deity worshiped in the Inca culture.

In today's Inti Raymi all of the significant Sun Festival rituals are re-enacted (don't worry, the llama sacrifices are simulated!). This special day also includes The New Fire Celebration. No fires were allowed in the city this day until the fire created by hollow mirror was used to concentrate the sunlight onto animal fur and kindling.

Only then were all other fires started from this source. You will also see the Inca representative carried on a litter and toasted with chicha (a fermented drink). With an the appropriate finale the Inca gives a speech in the native language quechua.

Day 06 (june 25th).-Return to Lima

After breakfast we will meet you at your hotel and drive you to the airport for your return flight to Lima. From there you will fly from Lima to your return city. End of our services to the route Lima - Cusco - Machu Picchu - Sacred Valley.
