Peru, Cusco, Salkantay Peak

Salkantay 5 Days / 4 Days

Salkantay Trek: This alternative tour allows visitors an incredible experience to walk through one of the most stunning mountains in the Peruvian Andes, the sacred mountain of Salkantay (6.720 m). The hike passes through Quechua communities and lesser-known Inca ruins to finally visit Machu Picchu. This is an alternative hike to the often-full Inca Trail.

We wake up early, ready for a new day of trekking after a solid breakfast. This day will lead us across the slopes of the mountains to pass from 3400m to 4650m with if necessary an additional oxygen contribution thanks to the bottles which we bring with us by precaution. After the rise and a good meal, the trek will lead us to Colpa Bamba place of our second night camp.

Day 03 : Colpapampa – La Playa

Wake up at 6:45 a.m. to take a good breakfast and to continue our excursion until Lluscamayu where we will borrow some Incas bridges to arrive at La Playa, small village insulated but charming which will accommodate our third camp.

After the breakfast we take a rural transport (truck) to reach the village of Santa Teresa. We then make a one hour trek in direction of the barrage on the Rio Urubamba.

We cross the hydro-electric barrage, and take our lunch and a little spare time until the arrival of the train which will take us to Aguas Calientes (30 min from there). We spend this last night in a Aguas Calientes.
