Moray and Maras Salt Mines Half Day Tour

Discover two of the most fascinating attractions in the Sacred Valley with our Moray and Maras Salt Mines Half Day Tour from Cusco. This experience is perfect for travelers who want a shorter cultural tour with beautiful landscapes, Inca history, and living Andean traditions.

During this half-day journey, you will visit Moray, one of the most impressive examples of Inca agricultural engineering, and the famous Salt Mines of Maras, a unique mountainside complex with thousands of salt pools still used by local families today.

Visit Moray: Inca Agricultural Innovation

The first stop of the tour is Moray, an extraordinary archaeological site made up of circular agricultural terraces built into natural depressions in the earth.

These terraces are believed to have been used by the Incas as an agricultural laboratory, where they studied different microclimates and adapted crops to various growing conditions. Your guide will explain how this site reflects the advanced knowledge of Inca agriculture, engineering, and land management.

You will also have time to explore the area, take photos, and enjoy the peaceful landscapes of the Sacred Valley.

Explore the Maras Salt Mines

After Moray, we continue to the spectacular Salt Mines of Maras, one of the most unique landscapes in the Cusco region.

This impressive site features more than 3,000 salt pools carved into the mountainside. These salt ponds have been used for generations and are still harvested by local families using traditional techniques passed down over time.

Your guide will explain the salt extraction process, the cultural importance of the site, and how the local community continues to preserve this ancestral tradition.
