Along the way, you will enjoy panoramic views of the Vilcabamba and Vilcanota mountain ranges, as well as the traditional village of Chinchero.
Short Stop in Ollantaytambo
After approximately 2 hours by car, we will stop in the historic town of Ollantaytambo. This short break is a great moment to stretch your legs, use the restroom, and enjoy the atmosphere of one of the most charming living Inca towns in the Sacred Valley.
Abra Málaga Pass | 4,350 m / 14,271 ft
We continue driving until we reach Abra Málaga Pass, located at 4,350 m / 14,271 ft above sea level. This high mountain pass marks the starting point of the biking adventure.
Before starting, your guide will provide a safety briefing and give you the necessary biking equipment. Once everyone is ready, the adventure begins.
Downhill Biking Adventure | Approx. 60–65 km
From Abra Málaga, you will start an exciting downhill biking experience through one of the most scenic routes in the Cusco region. The ride covers approximately 60 to 65 km and takes around 3 to 4 hours, depending on the pace of the group.
The route offers incredible views of the snow-capped Veronica Mountain, deep valleys, waterfalls, and the changing landscapes between the Andes and the cloud forest.
This biking section is mainly downhill and takes place on paved roads, making it accessible for most travelers with basic biking experience. A support vehicle will accompany the group for safety and assistance.
Huamanmarca Archaeological Site and Lunch
During the biking route, we will stop near Huamanmarca, an archaeological site surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. Here, your guide will share information about the history of the area, and you will have time to explore before enjoying lunch.
Whitewater Rafting in Santa María | 1 – 1.5 Hours
After lunch, we continue to Santa María, where you will take part in an exciting whitewater rafting experience. This activity lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 hours and takes place in a beautiful natural setting surrounded by lush vegetation, rivers, and mountain views.
Professional rafting guides will provide safety instructions and equipment before entering the river. This is one of the most adrenaline-filled moments of the Inca Jungle Trail to Machu Picchu.
Transfer to Santa Teresa
Once the rafting activity is finished, we will take a local transfer for approximately 1 hour to the town of Santa Teresa, a warm and peaceful town located in the jungle region near Machu Picchu.
Hotel Check-In and Optional Hot Springs
Upon arrival in Santa Teresa, we will check in at the hotel so you can rest and refresh after an active day.
If you still have energy, you may choose to visit the nearby Colcamayo Hot Springs, a relaxing natural attraction surrounded by mountains and tropical landscapes. This optional visit is perfect for recovering your body after biking and rafting.
